I live in a mostly red state and it's generally fine right now but our governor is on the China list.
And it's cold as a witches tit in the winter.
We could stay, it's fine here but we are ready to move some place warmer.
Right now we're looking really hard at Tennessee, maybe Alabama, possibly pan handle.
Thoughts? Is TN OK?
What's your favorite conservative safe haven?
I live in East Tennessee and I call it God's country, and the best kept secret in the nation. We're a mostly red state with pockets of enemy-held territory, mostly in the downtown areas of our big cities... Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. We have a Constitutional Carry Law, we don't suffer fools gladly, we speak our mind without fear, we have a strong Christian presence, and our gun shows are epic. East Tennessee is very hilly to mountainous, depending on where you go, and we have some of the best medical care in the US. Our state has a balanced budget and runs a surplus because our state government knows how to live within its means. There is no state income tax, although the sales tax is a bit annoying at 7%.
Well you're hitting all the right buttons there I have to say....
what kind of industries in E TN?
Well just of the top of my head, and without researching it deeply, DENSO is here, and my neighbor works for a factory that creates parts (don't know what) for a Toyota plant nearby, Tennessee Valley Authority (energy company) Alcoa Aluminum I think still has production going on but I don't know how intense that industry is right now, etc.
I did take a moment and queried Google about east TN industries and found this list:
https://www.eteda.org/data-library/major-employers/largest-employers/
And those are MAJOR industries; there are lots and lots of smaller, under 50 employee industries that dot the region. A drive through any local industrial park you'll see smaller buildings that house small manufacturing plants.
