I feel terribly unsafe, uncomfortable and distracted if I wear a seatbelt. I was in 2 accidents where if I had a seatbelt on I would of been killed. One, when I was 15 and my friend was driving, the breaks failed on a curvy mountainous road, he ended up rolling the truck 6 times down the ravine. I was able to come out of that without a scratch because I could move around in the cabin. Where I had been sitting ended up crushed in and buried in mud/swamp.
The other time a old man died of a heart attack on a HOT summer day, he veered into the other lane and almost head on slammed the oncoming car. I was at the stop sign (a T) and the other car swerved away from him and was hit on the front driver side wheel well and that sent their car straight at me, head on SMASH. I saw it coming and put my feet on the steering wheel and propelled myself into the back seat, thank god I did, because I was about to eat the steering wheel and dash board. Again, if I had a seatbelt on, that extra step to get it off and get out of the front, would not have happened in time.
I know people have been saved by seatbelts and that is great, but I choose NOT to wear one. I want control over what happens to me, I hate feeling stuck, trapped and helpless. This should be a personal choice, and not a law. Same with masks.
