It's been 3 seasons for me. Once the NFL started in with that WOKE garbage, hockey was the last sport to be watched in our household. No more sports or cabal TV for us. Don't miss it. I do have fond memories of family outings to San Jose to watch live games. Kinda sad.
Mine is a hockey family going back generations. From peewee to junior to college to the pros it was always hockey hockey hockey.
Yes it is sad.
Same here. My relatives in Canada and my brothers played hockey both in high school and college.
One of my favorite cousins played in the Canadien Juniors - never got drafted by the NFL. He played in the US minors for 7 years where he met his wife. They live in Hamilton Ontario and support the Truckers big time. They, their kids and their grandkids attended the Toronto protest walk this past weekend.
None of my family members have played in the NHL but a couple have gotten close. A lot of college hockey players though and 1 in the OHL. By family members I am including my extended and very large Irish Catholic family lol.
I tried to walk on at Michigan Tech but at the time they were a power. I could have played at Ferris State but engineering was my goal so I stayed in Houghton. Funny how things work out though because after undergrad I went to Michigan, met my wife got married, had a kid and never used my degree. lol I started a business soon as I graduated.
My nephews HS team won 3 of 4 State titles and he scored the game winner in the finals his freshmen year. He went on to play for the Aberdeen Wings in SD hoping to be one of those 21 year old freshmen at a college power. Covid derailed that and he is playing for a very good school but at a lower level.
Have big dreams for my niece though. She is 14 and plays with the boys still. Shes the best player on the ice. Shes already getting scholarship offers. We are hoping against hope that the world political situation rights itself and she can play on Team USA in the olympics one day.
Awesome! Hockey is a great sport. I sometimes miss watching college and pro hockey. But since we have no cable TV and have sworn off the woke garbage (plus forced vaccines) the NFL and other sports push, we hardly know what's going on. If we had or knew kids in the sport who had hopes of bigger things, we'd be there to cheer them on. Good luck to your niece!
