It seems so exhausting as a teacher to even go down this antagonistic path with parents in the first place. Why? They literally love Karl Marx THAT much? They love masks THAT much? It’s bizarre. Yeah if there is a totally crazy parent then complaining in the staff room is normal work behavior, but nowadays these teachers are way beyond that. They are seething with hatred and disdain for every parent. They all seem to hate children too, and delight in seeing their small faces force muzzled. Teachers are starting to have a reputation lower than even doctors. (Interestingly, the reputation of lawyers has been moving up as doctors and teachers are plummeting.)
I don't know why exactly, but it seems like the progressive movement has created a lot more activists in the world that live to pick those fights, plus I think you have some of the same kind of control power trip that some cops also fall into.
