consumer-grade pickups have gotten huge the past 20 years though. My 1999 F150 is dwarfed by a modern one. Shoot, I think the Maverick is bigger.

You are correct. Our 06 Ford Explorer is quite high but we need the four wheel drive and high clearance in a heavy winter. I drive my car most of the time.
