I would much prefer to get through identifying /prosecuting / bringing to justice living pedophiles before I ponder which dead men were also pedophiles way back when.

At some point, after the living are dealt with, it will be beneficial to also identify the dead who were well known to history just so we can see those remembered people in the light of truth. This understanding of what they actually are will help humanity to correctly adjudge their life works and legacy in total.
