This is a huuuge foggy morning stretch on my part. I mean huge, probably unimportant, and having a good chance of being wrong kind of stretch.
But as a youngster in the nascent days of the WWW, I'm fairly certain I knew at least one of the guys behind Tucows. That part I'm pretty certain about. What I'm less certain about is their identities, but part of me wants to say it was related to the Oldschool Hacker group Cult of the Dead Cow, who were certainly a Very Big Deal as far as hackers go at the time, and from what I remember were decent people of the original Grey Hat ethos. Can't confirm this at all... Take with a huge grain of salt, and I wouldn't usually post something I feel so uncertain about except one of my weirdest talents is having a great, albeit vague, memory of the underground computer scene over the past 30 years.
