Even better rabbit hole, check out the Sino-German Cooperation from the late 1920s-1930s... wrote a research paper about it for my Modern Asia history class during undergrad studies... easy A. Shouldn't have told my prof I waited until the day before a 15 page paper was due that we had all semester to prepare. He graded me more harshly the next semester in Modern Germany. Honesty doesn't always pay!
