The 10 years I was on FB (to Dec 2020) I never used messenger-instinct protection based on complaints of phone users.
I never understood the point of Facebook messengers when I have texting? I think when FB messenger roles out people already had unlimited text?? Don’t remember. Staff that "listen in" to your party line participation get their kicks. It was provided as a "service" to users. It took a few "time outs" for expressing my opinion that made me leary of ANY 'free' service FB would provide.
I use Facebook messenger to talk to priests in other countries, I have friends in Kenya, Ethiopia, the UK, Lebanon, and many other places. It's not possible for me to text some of these people due to how expensive it would be.
I don't talk about anything that is sensitive information, I use it to keep in touch with a priest who is helping me as a support system through some of my mental health issues.
You would be surprised at what zukies system can find useful about you to sell marketing info to.
