For the same reason big oil funds anti fossil fuel campaigns and organisations....

It’s the old Solinsky strategy...... for example his strategy for the democrats was to create an illusion of neo Nazis and kkk threats by attending Republicans meetings dressed as those Nazis kkk etc and shouting loud and causing trouble which the media would then report .....

Similar to what they are doing now with those glowies acting as right wing patriots etc...
