Distrust of government comes in many forms, sadly it seems to be nearly infinite forms. In the shit hole swamp known as Washington DC, you have FBI Police, United States Park Police, United States Pentagon Police, Capitol Police, even Secret Service police that seems to be slightly separate but that's just ones I know of offhand.
Only scumbag criminals which infest the majority of our government would need so much protection. Imagine how great everything could be if government did their job and the politicians weren't hated by so many due to being slimy compulsive liars plus of course, many are actual criminals that seem to get away with anything.
A lot of taxes we pay wouldn't even be needed if we weren't funding the massive government waste. If politicians were not such criminals, they wouldn't need armies of police protecting areas they frequent. Democrats often would talk shit about building a wall but DC is full of literal walls, along with endless fences, barricades and more.
This thread about big pharma is just one more example of the extreme endless waste. Our tax dollars pays for all of those bullshit covid shots. Our tax dollars pays for the yearly supply of flu shots, most of which aren't even useful. Just for the trash like the current president or any president, always with the large motorcades adding to the never ending waste.
Only criminals need to be protected so much. You have the drug companies getting richer over and over, year after year, much of which is paid by tax dollars. You then have the so called elite pieces of shit that do everything possible to avoid paying their taxes but then they demand the little guy that works a shit job with shit pay to pay often 20-25% of their small paycheck in taxes that they'll never see any benefit of.
Even if things talked about on this website all come true, it won't stop the endless waste of the people's money. It's always been this way throughout every society throughout history. Many of us on here have done well enough in life to have the things we want but there are a lot of people that are forgotten about, ignored, crushed under the weight of all of the bullshit.
The cycle repeats itself and I just don't see what could ever stop the cycle. Tyrants are removed, sometimes even executed but over time people forget or stop caring and simply get solely focused on their lives and blind to what goes on around them. When this happens, the cycle repeats itself when the people are not paying close attention, those scummy criminals will infest every aspect of life again.
I'm not a religious person but sometimes I wonder if we're way past due on some global event like you'd read in the bible that wipes out large portions of the population. The downside to that is the ones that would need to be wiped out would likely be the ones with the most protection from any such event.
Although I can afford to buy things new, sometimes I still prefer buying things used with cash, depending on what it is. It just feels more productive to directly benefit a person rather than a multi-billion dollar corporation or spend money to where government can steal more in the name of taxes just to waste.
I bought another used vehicle in cash for reasons like this but I also enjoy working on older vehicles, fixing them up too. It is what it is and sometimes there's nothing we can do about it currently but it sure would be nice.
