Frequently we are reminded here that the original Nuremburg trials were a kangaroo court, that many defendants were tortured, etc. But they were convicted of crimes against humanity and hanged. Isn't this like "hate crimes"? If someone with an agenda can make any claim of extra hate, an internal characteristic, they can inflict more punishment for a crime. I think that the people who have really committed crimes against humanity could be executed for ordinary murder and be just as dead. So unpopular as it may be, and though I generally agree with Wendy, I'm not in favor of introducing a new way/name to punish people because it is a two edged sword.
