I am not a theologian, but my hunch is that one who is would say, "Your question has put forth a false dichotomy, and has forced us to choose from two options, neither of which are true."
My opinion... I think to be "created in God's image" is a human with a spirit integrated in us. We are one with our spirit.
Exactly. Early cults/fracturing sects of Christianity put forth ideas like "flesh is evil, spirit is good." We are a body and a spirit, united. In death they separate; in the resurrection they will reunite.
