If this was a boardgame, the Ukrainians spent all their command points on Twitter posts, whilst the Russians spent them on troop movements.
Agree, it was over after the first 48hrs.
Basically pinned the enemy, removed their ability to communicate, move, or resupp.
By the end of week 1, has full control over the power, comms and water supply. All of which is fully intact.
That is a spectacular win, against a modern nation of 44 million, propped up with billions of US dollars worth of equipment and trained to NATO standards.
Western military staff, if they have any sense, should be shitting themselves in embarrassment watching what the Russian army just did.
But I do believe there are pockets of Nazi resistance embedded in civilian areas, specifically in Mariupol and other areas. And places like Odessa are being staged for a Naval assault, from the looks of it.
Agree with that assessment too.
Unfortunately, looking at every military campaign since the start of recorded history, there is always a decisive moment where victory is achieved, but sadly the killing continues for some time until it's all over.
Most losses occur during the pusuit phase after the main engagement.
