Modern liberals are as much liberals as Hitler was a capitalist. They merely use the term but wouldn't be able to tell you the first thing of what liberalism means. Hint to the leftists: liberal has something to do with liberty.
When you show them quotes of John Locke and Montesquieu, the former acknowledged to be the founder of liberalism and the latter being one of the first, prominent liberals who would inspire the founding of America and other countries, they'd say that's classical liberalism which is conservative. First off, classical liberalism has become its norm so, socially, it is conservative to try and conserve it.
They try to rebuke it with how the two parties swapped during Kennedy's tenure because he's the dude who (rightfully) tried to enact civil rights laws, as if the very same Democratic Party responsible for creating the triple K and Jim Crowe laws just decided to turn a new leaf overnight. Sure, let's pretend that LBJ, the guy who actually gave the senate Kennedy's write up was never quoted as going on huge anti black tirades. The senate that signed that into law was still majority Republican.
So, in other words, the classically liberal Republicans pre Civil Rights law became super eviI conservatives while the racist Democrats became classically liberal who would eventually become modern liberals. But if they agree that classical liberalism (which is all about low taxes, minimum government, pro liberty, pro free speech) is just modern conservatism, and Lincoln and them were all classically liberal minded pre party swap, either they're saying modern conservatives are closer to the guys who pushed for civil rights than they are (true) or they hate civiI rights because white patriarchy. Or both.
Their lack of education is telling. And no, some paper on your waII is not proof of education. Being educated is.
Haha. Sorry. I should have mentioned my tirade isn't for you specifically. What I'm hoping for is for these points to be used in debates (arguments) with "liberals" and for the curious leftist to read up a concise, succinct, and accurate account of history before their lack of attention gets to them.

Yes yes, got it.
But modern day "liberal "is the monicker to describe them, whatever they are.
