It is easy to say these things when you know they will not happen. And knowing they won’t happen, you say these things to shine a spotlight on how impotent and worthless NATO and Biden is. It’s also made easier knowing that Ukraine has already essentially fallen.
Personally I would rail against Putin and then relentlessly bash Biden and NATO for hanging Ukraine out to dry. Anyone paying attention knows Putin will invade when he feels Russia is threatened. But these self-proclaimed foreign policy experts provoked him and then act shocked when he did.
Not sure what President Trump’s angle is here, but he always has an angle. Maybe make the war hawks look weak? Maybe to reserve the right to be shocked when we discover what Putin reveals? But without hearing his complete remarks it hard to know.
It's all optics so normies vote for him and his candidates in November. If Trump came out pro-Russia the incoming red wave would cease to exist.
