Hmm, perhaps…..???
A Time, Times, and Half a Time —What does it mean?
In this lesson we continue to look at the symbolic time spans in vision and prophecy, especially at the phrase "a time, times, and half a time" which appears twice in Daniel (Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7) and once more in Revelation (Revelation 12:14).
I would now like to propose to you that the expression "a time, times, and a half a time" is not a code for the three-and-a-half symbol, but rather an explanation of that symbol, showing its internal structure and meaning.
I must admit I get a little bit bewildered when people say, "A time, times, and dividing of time means three-and-a-half years", and then smile as if somehow they have enlightened me. It seems to me that they may have missed the point entirely, and got the whole matter backwards.
Three-and-a-half is not an insight into the expression "a time, times, and a half a time". Quite the reverse, the expression "a time, times, and a half a time" is an insight into the three-and-a-half symbol, whether in days, months, or years.
The Israelites are on a lunar calendar.
A day = year in prophetic time
Ezekiel 4:6
And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
Time = 360 days = 1 year
Times = 720 days = 2 years
Half a time = 180 days = 1/2 a year
Thousand two hundred and threescore = 360 + 720 + 180 = 1260
Three and a half years, right? Math evades me…
I interpret it as 1260 years in Revelation myself.
