Most NATO members probably aren’t going to act at least formally until they have assurances the rest of the alliance won’t hang them out to dry.

Informally. Probably wouldn’t be unusual to see suspiciously well armed and trained “Volunteers”. Mercs that no one is quite sure whose actually paying. And Weapons companies making donations seemingly with no ulterior motives.

But that is more or less the international standard for conflicts that no one is supposed to be formally taking sides in.

By taking sides I mean. Actually formally sending soldiers. Diplomatically it’s much different
