I have thought about this as well. I'm gay, but except for this comment, you wouldn't know it. My husband and I keep to ourselves, despise "LGBT" community folk, and don't really talk about stuff like that anyways. I've read in the past that someone like me could be arrested in Russia, but I have a feeling that is just overblown western propaganda. Could you give me your thoughts on the social climate in Russia?
I'm traditional-minded, a Russian Orthodox Christian, for context.
But my impression is that people who mind their own business are left alone, and a lot of the arrests and persecution you see are Soros and CIA people, or people who have listened to them, stirring things up. That's not how Russians handle things in their culture, so for the Russian authorities basically everybody yelling at a protest is a glowie and it's best to get them out of everybody's hair immediately.
Doesn't sound like that's you. But if you were to visit Russia I'd suggest staying in Moscow.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I appreaciate your perspective. I never thought I'd be worried that America might not be a good home for me anymore.
