This is a trick to use… if you ever see a phone number you don’t recognize, two options:
1 — just let it go to voicemail
2 — pick it up, but do NOT say anything. These damn automated systems are so good now it sounds conversational… but wait until you have confirmation of a real human being.
It could be a war dialler. If you answer and say something it marks your number down as active and adds it to a list to sell to marketers. Every single time I pick up and say hello to a war dialler I get hundreds of spam calls over the next week to fortnight. So if you must answer the call, just pick it up and stay dead silent until someone starts talking

When I answer I press mute before the call connects. They mark it as a dead number because they do not hear any sound
