Russian troops have encircled most of Kiev, Ukraine, but are staying well back from the outskirts of the city. The massive Russian column North of Kiev has stalled a few miles from the city (claiming logistics problems, lack of fuel, heavy resistance... as if sitting still on a road is a better option than moving forward).

Essentially, Russian forces and equipment are surrounding but staying outside of the city for now. According to UNreliable sources, the Kremlin issued a statement late Thursday: "FRIDAY EVENING WILL BE BEAUTIFUL FOR THE WHOLE WORLD." When asked what this meant, a representative of Russia said that they had "entered a road of no return, we cannot submit to NATO". No idea if this is true or not, and only a few very UNreliable sources are reporting it. No sources given, no names quoted, etc... . No sauce.

Theory: Russia KNOWS that Kiev will be an urban battle. Very few civilians fled (or were allowed to flee)... so the city of 3 Million people probably still has 2 Million civilians staying there. That makes the situation tough. Ukraine's president said that Kiev has supplies to hold out for a few weeks. Russia can't wait that long.

A single low-altitude small EMP blast over the city of Kiev would solve most of this problem. If calculated and done correctly, it could knock out all electronics, computers, cell phones, radios, TV's, transformers, disable vehicles, disable all electric motors, knock out electrical generation, disable most smart military weaponry, disable any weaponry that relies on computer controls or electronic switches / battery power (anti-aircraft missiles, radar, etc...) within the city of Kiev. One bright pulse in the sky and it all goes dark. No radiation, nobody injured.... just everything in the city shuts down.

There would be no running water, no sewage treatment, no electricity, no battery power (batteries would be fine, but anything they are used in would be fried). No MSM cameras or reporters, because none of their electronic gear would work... they would be shut down. No vehicles, no smart weapons systems, no cell phones or communications, no computers... it all goes dark. Imagine being in a 5th floor of an apartment building and having no working toilets and no running water, no lights, no heat and no elevator. You could live like that for 3-days maximum and after that it becomes unlivable.

All Russian troops would have to do is wait for 2-days. Let Kiev stew in it's own juices. After that, people would be glad to evacuate the city but there wouldn't be any working transportation (no buses, no trains, no cars). Russia doesn't want to create a massive refugee crisis, which is bad optics. They want to force the City of Kiev to surrender. After 2 or 3 days of that... the city will probably surrender. They wouldn't have any real options left.

Russian troops wouldn't have to enter the city. They disabled the weapons system, made sure that Kiev is de-weaponized (and effectively crippled for the next few years)... so mission accomplished. Troops can then pull back from Kiev, mop up the surrounding countryside East of that city... and then leave Ukraine victorious. The western media will go nuts.

It may also lead to a U.N. crisis, emergency meetings, full alert of all world-wide nuclear forces and possibly a nuclear standoff for a few days... but the point will have been made. War is over and Russia accomplished what they said they would.

Just my 2-cents... but I would expect that to happen at night (Ukraine time) on 3/11. That would be tomorrow mid-afternoon our time.
