He explained one has to be president to 'contact' Putin. He does not have enough clout as a civilian.

This may mean some things have to change rather soon.

Of course, I think his name and fame precludes that, so it is quite possible that he CAN talk to Putin.

No he doesn't. He can go on any TV site and contact putin indirectly with messaging.
