How do you get the search box to work?

When I type in a word like "Ukraine" and then press Enter, nothing happens.

My IOS/Apple blocks me from searching as well

Maybe you can bypass the block by just posting in a search link. If it works on ga.w it should work for the other ones as well. A bit annoying sure, but better than nothing.
