Look at the definition of the word "Babbitt". It comes from a book titled 'Babbitt' by Sinclair Lewis. ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/169718.Babbitt ). The book was so popular that the word Babbitt became a derogatory word used to describe someone with the character's traits in the book.
