Fellow greybeard here, currently a VP of Tech managing 120 software delivery people. Every single post you've made on this thread is spot on. Ignore these children trolling you...experience absolutely matters. And the vagina sand that someone else accused you of having is precisely what drives devs to do things right the first time.
Also agree this Truth Social rollout screams "shit show".
Yes and no. The short answer is "it depends on the team" and "it depends on the experience level". Every team needs an alpha dog. And every team needs a grizzled veteran who is unafraid to call out lazy developers and incompetence. You shouldn't have too many of those on a team...and I could easily argue one is the most you should have. And they damn well better have the respect of everyone. But generally those types command respect automatically through their superior work product.
I've been around enough devs in my career to know that there are a lot of lazy spoiled brat script kiddie types who cry to their mamas every time someone pushes them hard. Or worse, they think that technology for technology's sake is the priority, when in reality their output absolutely needs to align with business needs because the business (and the revenue they drive) are what pays the techie's salary. You have to weed these types out.
There's a reason why Gilfoyle was my favorite Silicon Valley character.
