The more I think about this, the more I feel like the reason they are so insulated from punishment is that they know what it would put people through to have to expose it. They'd have to expose themselves to it. To me, outside of war this is an ultimate sacrifice because I can't even imagine what good people will have to be witness to to expose and destroy the darkest of dark people. I don't think I'm alone in that thought and I think that's what they use as their shield. I mean it's unavoidable (think Weiner's laptop and the puking cops) to not see what has to be seen to find out who's truly in this and eradicate them.
Interesting angle, I don’t think your wrong. A lot of it is probably too dark for the average human mind to comprehend b/c we don’t think like that and can’t fathom the depths of their depravity or why anyone could even get a hint of pleasure out of the horrific and heinous acts they commit. It’s hard for even my brain to wrap around but I’m constantly reminding myself of the Bible verse in Jeremiah that talks about how desperately wicked the heart is and then I also remember “there but for the grace of God, go I”
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
Jeremiah 17:9
