I am into science fiction...the NPC meme reminds me so much of this movie.

What I got from that movie was that most NPC's can't handle reality without going off the rails so they prefer their little mental cages, it gives them comfort.

They can't stand anyone who isn't in a cage because they see it as a direct threat to their safety, so they attack.
