Thank you. My daughter got that from me because when she was 16 years old, I told her I was NOT buying her a car and that we would work out some transportation for her once she turned 18 and graduated High School. I also told her we would NOT be paying for her vehicle insurance and that once she turns 18 providing she is still living at home and using one of our vehicles, that she would pay her part. I told my son the same thing. They both bought their own vehicles and never asked me for one.
I grew up in a family of 8 kids. My father couldn't afford each of us a vehicle. I got my own vehicle after I married. I was 23 years old before I got my license and a vehicle. My husband helped me so that he wouldn't have to take me shopping, etc. Haha. But that was how it was done then. There was no such thing as cell phones until my son turned 19 I think. Whereas he got his own and uses one daily for his Construction business. I can see one being used for businesses. My daughter had one, but decided it wasn't worth the money she was paying, so she let it go. I live in front of her, so she uses my land line when she needs to. She homeschools her kids, so she isn't going anywhere.
You're welcome! Similar for me. Bought my own first car at eighteen because I worked for the money. Paid my own insurance as well. My parents didn't buy any of us cars, we had to earn them. By the time I was that age I had a full time job and was totally self-supporting by nineteen.
That is what I call responsible parents raising 'responsible' children. You turned out to be a fine responsible adult. That is what we need for today's youth. However, the school system along with technology and government has taken away the parents basic rights of teaching their children what the word 'responsibility' is. Instead, now we have brainwashed, lazy, and the government will take care of me, KIDS, who don't want to do much of anything. There are still a few great well-rounded kids whose parents took the time to do what is right, but there are many more who are "GIVEN" everything on a silver platter so to speak, who expect to not have to work for nothing, be released from jail instantly, and never have to pay a penny for anything they have brought upon themselves. These are the things we MUST change when we get our world back. We MUST bring GOD back into our world. He is the ROCK of our SOCIETY; not anyone or anything else. Amen.
