One table over from me during lunch at a deli, a mother and daughter were discussing current news.
The daughter was a 40ish Air Force Colonel - I had to ask my ex-military hubby later what the patch and eagle on her shoulders meant LOL.
It went like this:
Mother: "This war in Ukraine is so awful! Why is Putin doing this?"
Daughter: "Mom, I've been to Ukraine three times. Their government is pure evil!"
Mother: "What does that have to do with what Putin is doing?"
Daughter: "It's not what it looks like. I don't understand everything going on with Putin, but I have it from a very good source that the Ukranian's are glad the Russians are there."
Mother: (looking dumbstruck) "But that's crazy! The Russians are killing them!"
Daughter: "No, they're not, Mom. The Ukranian Army is slaughtering their own people."
Mother: "But...but... Fox news says Russia is attacking them!"
Daughter: "Don't watch the news, Mom. Any of it. It's all lies."
I walked out of there SO full of hopium! 🥰🥰🥰
Edited: I made a mistake with the star comment. She had eagles on her shoulders. She is a Colonel. Sorry for the mix-up.
"Stop believing narratives" says the person that is literally spouting the same trash as all the MSM. Nice one.
Can't people in Ukraine have different opinions? The same as in America, some are rootin' for Putin and some feel he's the Antichrist. A lot depends on the media you listen to.
I'm sorry, it seems that your comments suggested that you believe everyone in Ukraine has the same opinion about the Russian invasion. That what your family believes is what everyone 100% believes all across Ukraine.
It's all very well you saying this, but we have zero way to verify your claims. We should focus mainly on open-source information to avoid these stupid arguments. This also applies to the OP - we have no way to verify the validity of that story either - but to their credit they just put it out there without trying to imply that all Ukrainians thought exactly the same way. Obviously there will be a number of different opinions within Ukraine. Time will tell what the prevailing sentiment is/was.
According to your family who may be reiterating what the their msm is telling them. Have you asked them about fake news because we all know this is worldwide propaganda being put out by the media companies. Maybe they are just Ukrainian sheep?
