Boats disappear from the bottom up because of the laws of perspective and the horizon line. There are zoom cameras now that can pull boats back into focus after they’ve disappeared (from the bottom up) when looking with the naked eye. Everything merges at the horizon line. Think of looking down a long hallway lined in lights in a hotel. The further away the lights, the lower they will appear to the ground, but you know the hallway isn’t curved.
