Megachurch pastor caught in a scandal?? Say it aint soooooo....
From article: "Houston initially stepped down from the church's boards last September after he was charged with “concealing child sex offenses.""
These people are many things, but Christians they are not
I just watched The Righteous Gemstones. I like Danny McBride so I figured I would try and enjoy some dark comedy, expecting it to be full on blasphemous. While some of that is there, A LOT of it is calling out televangelism and mega-churches and I gotta be honest, it was pretty based. These people are the worst.
I had the exact same experience with the show. And something about the Satanist who turned to Jesus and gets treated like dirt at the church, his character rings really true in an unsettling, though hilarious, way
He is really good in that role. I was surprised. You really start rooting for that character.
A kiss, a cuddle, or a hug?
For some reason I feel like this story is a softball story
He was just being charismatic.
The western corporate model of church leadership produces the same sort of people at the top of these large churches as you have leading large corporations. They are mostly sociopaths and narcissistic and view moral restraint as passe.
At least Billy Graham had the good sense to enforce that his leaders can only meet with women if there is another person (such as their wife), present.
