It's the common bond that they all share and hence they need to protect each other. That or some other criminal activity, they ARE the party of and for Crime.

That would explain a heck of a lot. All the bad guys have to do is drug someone at a party, then take photos of them in a "compromising" position with a kid, and Presto! Instant kiss-ass.
