True, but I think the context is slightly different here. The laptop situation does not have the personal impact that a potential deadly virus does. Fear is a much bigger hurdle for many to overcome than disgust. The media had far greater ability to spin the scamdemic than they will this.
But you are right. I still see tons of people wearing masks. And educated medical professionals who still say "trust the science" and "the numbers don't lie". Perhaps that is the issue...people within a particular industry such as the medical field don't want to have their "professional judgement" challenged, whereas there isn't the same type of built-in industry here (other than the professional pedos and crack smokers and child traffickers)
