Former Vice-Governor of east China's Fujian Province Zhang Zhinan was publicly sentenced to 14 years in prison for accepting bribes and abusing his power by the Jiangxi Nanchang Intermediate People's Court on March 22.

Zhang is the third high-ranking official in Fujian to be dismissed since the Chinese Communist Party 's 18th National Congress in 2020.

According to the court's report, Zhang Zhinan 张志南, took advantage of his party and governmental positions to seek benefits for others in company operation, including obtaining subsidies, land use approval, and bank loans, from 1996 to 2019.

Zhang also received property from others during this period, which amounted to around 5.3 million dollars.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection once criticized Zhang for his ineffective handling during the COVID-19 outbreak, resisting censorship, and failing to report personal-related matters.

Xu Gang 徐钢, Fujian's former vice governor, was sacked in March 2015 and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Su Shulin 苏树林, another Fujian's governor, was fired in October 2015 and sentenced to 16 years.
