Yup seems like a R44 typical "boom chop". Ain't nothing you can really do with a catastrophic failure like that. I lost friends when in the high hover during a test flight they had a tail rotor shaft drive failure, the G forces alone were so high they would have known little about it before hitting the ground.
r-44 has a bad record. evidence is pointing towards the main blade striking the tail and breaking it off, . Strongly leaning towards Accident
