There is some class element in there as well. And this isn't explicitly about the economy but does tie into the old law system of having to purchase a sacrifice if you did not keep your own animals. (Money exchangers in the Temple) It is more meant to keep people from wasting their energy on fake solutions, like a 2000 year old scam alert (we see this in islam as well they are real about it though)! I am aware that symbols are meant to help us understand and the symbol isn't my beef. It is the symbol being hoisted as this or that without the literal history. It is a huge smack to the face using a symbol given to moses to show the jews so that snakes would stop biting them to being used by sorcerers (bible says no about these people) to sell their pharmaceuticals. When the images are adopted for any purpose than they were created it confuses people, this is done on purpose. You quite literally do not need idols, they do not do anything but make money for whoever is selling them.
Should you buy Jeffery Dahmers signed copy New York Times Bestseller knowing that he is going to use the money to eat people or buy political power in a system built for such is more on topic of what we were discussing. It isn't that you stop buying things that you enjoy but realize that they are ultimately unnecessary for your enjoyment and can actually impact your ability to enjoy the natural world, not just on a personal level, lending you to be more likely to consume the next trending item because of your specifically built dissatisfaction of the world. Like God wants you to be happy, but you might not be if you expect it at the hands of man.
Sure sure. Only God is Good so. Christ Jesus kept all of the Laws of God and of Man, textbook definition of good. I think that people fail to meet how this is such a thing.
Before Christ you could be sentenced to death for breaking any one of an awful lot of laws (still happening too). Atonement was allowed for a price to the powers that be. Kick a goat? well now you gotta barbecue a cow and give that and a weeks worth of wheat to the priest and he will make the offering for you before God. If you do not have a goat you can purchase one at the temple. Pay to play? Let me buy from the priest the animal that I must clean to strictly meat to sacrifice to then give to the priest I just bought it from. It was a huge ass scam!
You are free to do as you please and I am not trying to argue against your personal choices, they are yours to make.
You seem uninterested in this conversation though.
Get rid of all the child rapers, do it. All of the rapists! How would you go about it? How would you verify that they had? Would you verify? Wouldn't verifying make you partly who you are trying to eradicate? Would you murder them? Murder is evil? Would you then murder yourself for murdering another?
