Just listening to Jack Maxey and herd something strange

Not sure how much intel/sources Maxey has but in the first 8 minutes of this video, Maxey's exact words were "Hunter was trying to clean things up in the LAST YEAR OF HIS LIFE." (at 7:45)

Would make sense of the comms in the SOTU of a "dead son". It was thought Joe was saying "you're dead to me" but what if he was really saying that they "took care of him"?
