Great post. Hook up with a local Deck Builder Contractor and use their throw-away free lumber. I am putting in a few more raised beds this year and the lumber is waiting for me to pickup. Just be sure to get a very good ground cloth for weeds. We grow 90% of our veggies for 4 families. It is hard but very gratifying work. Start now and if you are depending on a garden as a primary food source have a way to protect your crops from hail storms until you have canned enough to last an extra year or 2.
