Nevertheless, analysis of the sun cycles shows that we are entering a mini-Ice Age. An ice block breaking off in polar regions does not necessarily mean a great melt. (Remember the Southern Hemisphere is in late summer ATM). However a crack failure could be due to geothermal activity underneath, or even due to the sheer weight, which could actually mean there is more ice than normal.
It is my opinion that this particular news item is not actually about climate: it is comms, although there is an agenda to push governments into passing more 'green' legislation.
