Kinda like how having a better-paying job used to mean working less and being able to live a "better" life with more leisure time. But for the past few decades, it's turned inyo working harder, longer workdays and workweeks with fewer "real" hours/days off and having to deal with more headaches/beauracracy.
Remarkably like that. And the "smart" phone keeps people plugged into the slave job too - I refuse to install Slack or log into work gmail on my phone (or home PC for that matter).
