My daughter and her friends have been sharing this on their social media and plan to be a part of this. While it hurts the gas companies, it also causes a one-day hit on the collection of gas taxes.

Nope. I won't be buying gas that day anyway, because I only buy gas about once a month, and I just filled up a day or two ago.
It also hurts the moms and pops who run convenience stores and other gasoline outlets. For many of them, a major portion of their income is from fuel sales.
Well said.
I know of one guy running a small store a few years ago when gas went up, who just stopped selling gas at all for a while. He said that because he was a small operator, the wholesale price he had to pay was more than what the bigger operations were selling at retail. He just locked up his pumps for a month or two. He was old and just wasn't going to give in and screw his loyal customers. And they still came to his store for everything but gas. His store was the Choco-Mart in Chocowinity, NC.
