There's not much info on the progress of his illness or coexisting symptoms. If sudden onset - likely vascular (e.g. stroke). If gradual / progressive - one form of dementia - Primary Progressive Aphasia - has prominent language difficulties - Of course there are other nervous system degenerative disorders where language deteriorates, just that we don't have much info
