My granddaughter has COVID and is feeling very ill. What medications are suggested for children? She is 11 but very tiny for her age and is not much bigger than a 6 years old child. She has been running 104 temp off and on, has some congestion and a headache. She told her mom she feels like she is dying. Symptoms just started overnight. Also, requesting prayers for her. Thanks so much!

I wouldn't let her temp get any higher than that. It's good to let the fever do its job, but you don't want it to get above 104. Luke warm shower will bring it down quick, but that won't be fun for her. Tylenol lowers fever, but if it doesn't, Children's Motrin usually will, but it can upset her stomach. I've resorted to it on occasion even when I knew there would inevitably be throwing up in the middle of the night from it with my son when he was little because sometimes it was the only fever reducer that worked for him.
Bed rest, chicken broth, Vitamin C (LOTS of it)--they have Vitamin C gummies and the packets you mix in water if she doesn't do well with pills. When my kids were that age and sick, I typically had them do 2000 mg of Vitamin C split into 1000 mg in the morning and 1000 mg in the evening.
Prayers are sent. Bless her and you all.
