I get what you're saying but "greed" itself is a staple of existing.
Being too greedy can be debated from every angle right down to a person taking each breath of air because they're too greedy for wanting to stay alive. It seems "greed" is a motivator or initiator behind anything. In reality, "greed" is good, no?
What the people corrupting the world are doing is something else, I think. I'm not sure what one word to call it but "greed" does not seem to fit.
Many people don't want gold to rule, compete, or to lord it over others, but to provide a nice life for themselves and their loved ones, to buy quality food, housing, clothing, healthcare, education, to be able to buy the things they want that keep them healthier, safer, more educated, entertained, connected, to have interesting experiences, from ball games to world travel, and to be free from a job they hate.
