This bugs me to no end, I never understood why it takes so long for cars to get going at a green light and why there is such a big gap between cars as they make a left turn.

For a lot of people it's a chance to make their influence felt - on those behind them and in a negative way - but still they are making their influence felt which boosts their egos. Lots of people are amazingly small minded.
