it's most likely a prop/plant. notice the unused straps on the rear. for military berets, those straps are usually tightened/tied to fit the head and then the tails burned off.
EDIT: not here, but there's a video of this and the straps were unused leading me to believe it's a prop/plant. there probably were frenchies there based on actual events, but this to me isn't conclusive evidence.
That’s in the US military, the strings on the beret. Other militaries keep them, specifically. I saw a bunch of floppy, funny looking berets in Afghanistan.
i saw that too, but never from militaries/units where berets are actually a longstanding tradition. those militaries/units maintain a standard for them.
