This is getting frustrating. How can we ever move on to implementing solutions, if folks can't stop talking in terms of "democrat" and "republican", instead of what they are specifically running on by the issues? Ask yourselves what it is you need this person to do for the country and your community and then ask them the questions that reveal what they think about those issues. If they have no awareness of the issues, or swing in the wrong way, let people know, and don't support them. Don't pretend they are a win just because they claim to be republican. If they answer with party slogans, question them further and further, and more and more specifically. It's a process of qualifying them. By qualifying them we'll weed out the charlatans and get the competition for honorable candidates rising.
Ah, someone who remembers their civics lessons. Excellent, and yes...that's correct. 😎👍
The two party system was set to divide, which it has, since its inception. All of it was arranged this way, not by accident, to keep the people warring against one another instead of keeping check on Government.

Political Parties have become Machines of control.
Your candidate is presented TO you, by BY you at primaries and this is counter to democracy.
How to create a grassroots candidate without being co-opted or misled without creating a monster that controls from the top down?
Original Constitution didn't mention political parties!
Whoever got the most votes was President.
Whoever came in second was Vice President.
It was changed only to gain control....
