I remember this was a very weird story. I don't remember Lin Wood being involved though. But you are correct. Elon Musk won the case, and Lin Wood was his lawyer.

OP mixed up the wording, and you have Lin's role reversed:

Mr Unsworth's lawyer Lin Wood said their side would leave the court "with our heads held high" but that the decision was "not a good verdict for society".

Unsworth sued Musk, accusing Musk of defaming him and seeking compensation. Lin represented the accuser, and lost. Musk defended himself from damages, and didn't have to pay anything.
