That’s wonderful! I’m from a very rural community & I think that made a big difference with me & others raised like it. I grew up a few houses down from my grandparents & great grandma. I was I still live where I was raised.
My grandma canned anything she could. She always made homemade biscuits every night & on Sunday twice. Every Sunday we had grits, country ham & biscuits before church. Biscuits again for Sunday lunch. She was born in 1926 & knew what hard living was about.
My mother made homemade biscuits twice a day. Until she discovered canned biscuits and started cooking those for breakfast and just making homemade for supper.
Mama didn't cook on Sunday morning. We always had cereal. But we had eggs and bacon or sausage every other morning.
Your mom sounds like my great grandma. She cooked great southern food. She also only cooked canned biscuits. There was always jello & cool whip in her fridge. She also served store bought canned fruit. I think she enjoyed the modern convinces.
