Calendars are records of time, at least the concept of time as we humans understand. The various human created calendars used over millennia to track time and record history are not always in sync, in fact many vary significantly.
I've always found shifts in the way humans reference time to be intriguing. For instance, BC, AD, In the Year of Our Lord, In the ____ Year of American Independence, the _____ Year of the French Revolution, etc etc etc... we pick a starting date and then count from there. Perhaps the syncing of these various calendars is a way of pulling all conceptions of "time" together as foreshadowing the ending of the loop?
